ALPS Immersive Experience: a unique multisensory journey

We are delighted to unveil the ALPS Immersive Experience at the Museum of Palazzo Mocenigo, Study Center for History of Textiles, Costume and Perfume - Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, an interactive exhibition that combines innovation, creativity and scientific research into one engaging journey, designed for all enthusiasts of art, technology and perfumery.

In the enchanting White Room of the Palazzo Mocenigo Museum, visitors will be invited to immerse themselves in an exciting multisensory experience: they will be able to see and breathe the Alps through an extraordinary and unprecedented perspective, the olfactory neuroscience.

This unique immersive experience was crafted by artists Carola Bonfili and Francesco Fonassi in collaboration with
CUSTOMIX, Mavive's  XRTechnology Partner and it aims to translate olfactory experiences into audio-visual formats, bridging the gap between the natural environment and an introspective, immersive dimension.

The experience is divided into three parts:

  1. Stills Video: Created with CGI, this first video invites visitors to follow a rabbit through a natural and fantastical landscape, capturing its fragrances. The rabbit's disappearance into a crevice introduces the next immersive experience, ALPS VR.

  2. Virtual Reality Experience (ALPS VR): This segment metaphorically illustrates how our bodies decode fragrances, based on olfactory research and neuroscientific studies by Mavive and Givaudan. It also explains the geological origins of the Alps. Users interact with virtual molecules using gesture control, making them float in water and produce sounds at healing frequencies tuned to 432Hz, promoting physical and mental well-being.

  3. Little PBRs Video: This final video showcases three 3D-printed sculptures evolving from Physically Based Rendering (PBR) models. Visitors can view these as individual modules representing three types of molecules.

The experience will be held in the White Room at Palazzo Mocenigo from July 29 to December 31, 2024, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

We extend our gratitude to
Weerg for creating the 3D sculptures featured in the experience.
